Hydrogen South West (HSW) drives forward Hydrogen Economy at Quarterly meeting in Exeter

Hydrogen South West (HSW) convened its latest quarterly meeting at Stovax & Gazco’s new facility in Exeter on Tuesday, 12 September. The event represented an opportunity for members to forge connections with a diverse range of businesses and supporting partners, further solidifying the South West’s role as a leading hub for research and development in the UK’s the evolving hydrogen economy.

The event was attended by representatives from various industries and there were also presentations from various members, including on:

Stovax & Gazco’s investment in Exeter: Ian Kingscott, from Stovax Gazco, shared insights into their impressive  new facility  in Exeter.

Tower Group’s Maritime Opportunity: Alex King of Tower Group discussed a major maritime opportunity and the establishment of a new hydrogen hub for road transport.

Clean Mobility in the South West: Chris Smith from the University of Exeter’s Centre for Future Clean Mobility emphasized the South West’s capacity to support the marine and transport sectors in implementing hydrogen solutions.

Carlton Powers Limited’s Hydrogen Projects: Eric Adam of Carlton Power Limited presented on the company’s latest hydrogen projects including at Langage near Plymouth

The discussions of  the ground transport working group also identified key its priorities asksd to governmentand the Department for Transport (DfT).

HSW director, David Eccles has said: “Hydrogen South West was formed to unite our members in addressing the challenges in developing the hydrogen economy across the South West while showcasing the region’s unique expertise from a diverse range of sectors. Our recent event introduced four working groups for aviation, maritime, ground transport and gas networks, crucial for the hydrogen sector’s success in the South West and beyond.

The discussions at our latest quarterly meeting focused on some urgent actions, including the impending transition away from fossil fuel-powered vehicles, especially heavy-duty vans under 3.5T.”

Ian Kingscott, Group Technical Director at Stovax Gazco, commented on the significance of hosting the quarterly members meeting saying:
