YTL Plant and Fleet Solutions partners with Toyota to support the trials of commercial and off-road vehicles
It is not often that you can claim to be part of an exclusive club, but YTL Plant and Fleet Solutions colleagues, Phillip Carter and Martin Crocker, can make such a claim! They are among a group of fewer than 1,000 people worldwide to have driven a pioneering new vehicle, and fewer than 100 people to have driven it on a specially created off-road course.
YTL Plant and Fleet Solutions, which is a subsidiary of YTL Construction, is partnering with Toyota to support the trials of commercial and off-road vehicles, providing feedback into their vehicle development process for a Hilux H2 vehicle. Using the standard Hilux chassis and the fuel cell, tanks and electronics from the Toyota Mirai, their fuel cell electric vehicle premium passenger car, they are accelerating the development programme to bring the FCEV to market. While this is still a prototype vehicle, with limited driver aids that a traditional 4x4 would have, the performance was impressive and will only continue to improve, giving real hope that H2 can displace fossil fuels in the future.
