Hydrogen South West continues expansion with first members event

Hydrogen South West, the leading hydrogen ecosystem, held its inaugural Members Network event earlier this month. The event, which attracted more than 150 businesses, highlighted the growing desire to maximise the full potential of the hydrogen economy in the South West.

The event enabled HSW board members, formed of ten leading organisations, to meet with the wider business and SME community, which has a key role to play in facilitating hydrogen deployment. Discussion focused on how to develop a cross-sector distributed hydrogen ecosystem across the South West.

The Members Network event was the first time members and prospective members have come together.

“We were delighted to see the interest of so many businesses at our event,” said Simon Earles, Hydrogen South West Chair. “Our ecosystem presents a formidable opportunity to accelerate the UK’s transition to alternative power at scale and it’s clear this has been recognised by industry, large and small. The prospect of a clean future powered by hydrogen is nearing ever closer – we are excited to see this future unfold.”

HSW was founded to generate investment for low carbon solutions; leverage the South West’s leading-edge capabilities, and global sea and air gateways to create a best practise model; and establish the region as a Centre of Excellence for hydrogen skills and innovation.

This starts with raising the profile of hydrogen innovation and gaining support for distributed hydrogen production, storage and transportation systems. The success of which is demonstrated by the increasing number of Hydrogen South West’s cross-sector partnerships and commitment by industry.
